Routes and nature reserves

There are six nature reserves to explore around the estate, from a walk along the Dommel to the drifting sand of the Loonse en Drunense Duinen.

  • De Dommel in het voorjaar bij De Ruwenberg.

    Along the Dommel

From the back gate of the estate, walk upstream along the Dommel. On the way, you pass a hydroelectric plant that generates 650,000 kWh a year and the Herlaar nature reserve.

    Start straight from the estate

  • Stadsgezicht van 's-Hertogenbosch.

    The Bossche Broek

A nature reserve of wet grasslands, right on the edge of the centre of Den Bosch. Walk past open meadows with a view of St John's and spot plenty of birds along the way. Afterwards, settle down on a terrace in the centre.

    7 km from the estate

  • Wandelaars op de Vughtse Heide.

    Vughtse Heide

Heathland and woods, close to the Nationaal Monument Kamp Vught. A walk here combines well with a visit to the monument.

    8 km from the estate

  • Moerputtenbrug in natuurgebied De Moerputten.

    De Moerputten

A marshland with a long wooden boardwalk and an old railway bridge over the water. The walking route is about 5 km long.

    10 km from the estate

  • Gezin ontdekt samen natuurgebied De Kampina.

    Kampina

Heathland, fens and stream valleys take turns here. You'll find rare plants and plenty of birds and insects. It's a good place for a long walk.

    15 km from the estate

  • Zandduinen in de Loonse en Drunense Duinen.

    Loonse en Drunense Duinen

The 'Brabant Sahara': a large area of drifting sand surrounded by woods and heathland. Good for a long walk or bike ride. End the day on the terrace of one of the three inns.
